I studied Knitwear Design at Nottingham Trent University and worked in design studios within the knitwear industry before setting up a studio at home. Initially I started to develop my own contemporary knitted fabrics using domestic knitting machines and in 2003 established Janie knitted textiles and became a Ltd. company in 2005. In the early stages of the business I worked with local knitwear companies and designed/produced fashion accessories for clients.

More recently I have concentrated on making knitted fabrics and products with the assistance of my partner Michael Hanmer, who has experience in the knitting industry. Together we produce all our own fabrics and products in our studio at the Harley Foundation.
We supply a wide range of galleries and stores and exhibit our work at retail and trade exhibitions shows throughout the year, more details on our events, trade and stockists pages.

Jane says “I work together with my partner on producing and developing contemporary knitted fabrics to use in a range of practical products. We prefer to use sustainable natural fibres such as wool, linen and cotton and are currently sourcing and using more British yarns. We enjoy experimenting with colour and fibre combinations inspired by my photographs and sketches of natural forms and texture”.
